Ever feel like you just don’t have what it takes to parent your child? The days you find yourself out of patience, out of energy, out of the mom-ness needed to help make it a good day for your child. Or as a Christian parent you may even have days you feel like you don’t have the faith, the right prayers, or the grace to keep going.
I find that raising my daughter, it takes so much that I simply don’t have in and of myself. There are days I feel overwhelmed and defeated and that I’m not the mom I should be for Charlie.
But it’s on these days that I have to go back to what God spoke to me when Charlie was first born.
“YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FOR CHARLIE."
Out of all the mothers, I was the one chosen and entrusted with Charlie. God- knowing full well my personality, my weaknesses, my faith, my husband, our finances, our church family- chose us to raise her.
My confidence is not in my abilities as a parent, but in the soverienty of God- that He’s in control and knows what He is doing. And I can lean on the truth in 2 Corinthians 12:9
“MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU. MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN YOUR WEAKNESS.”
God’s grace is there in the rough moments, rough days, and rough weeks to sustain us and supply us with all we need according to His power at work in our lives. Through Him we find the patience, the wisdom, the mom super powers to press on! And my weaknesses are the perfect platform for God’s power to be revealed.
So next time you feel like you don’t have what it takes, realize that you don’t in and of yourself. But as you look to God, walk in the reality that you are CHOSEN to be your child’s parent and let His strength be known as you hide your weakness in Him.
